What are Acrobat and PDF?
Acrobat and PDF offer a solution to a fundamental problem of
distributing documents: How can I send my document to someone who
doesn't have the application or computer system I created it with? For
instance, how can I send an Excel spreadsheet I created on a Macintosh
to someone on a PC who doesn't have Excel? Another related problem that
Acrobat solves: How can I convert my paper document to an electronic
document that I can send to anyone?
Using Acrobat, you can convert almost any document to PDF, the
Portable Document Format.
Anyone can then view this PDF file in Acrobat or the free Adobe
Reader—and it looks exactly the same as the original
document. A
PDF file contains all the information necessary to display its
document, including the fonts.
